Musée des sciences (Laval)
Le Musée des Sciences conserve environ 130 000 spécimens dont plus de 60 000 fossiles. Cette collection de paléontologie est tout particulièrement intéressent car elle a été réalisée, en grande partie, par le couple de paléontologues et géologues lavallois, de renommée internationale, Daniel et Pauline Œhlert. Ces derniers ont créés plus d'une centaine de nouvelles espèces (brachiopodes, gastéropodes, bivalves, trilobites, crinoïdes...) et la collection comprend environ 700 types et figurés. Le fonds du musée est également constitué, entre autre, de 20 000 roches, 3 000 minéraux (dont une remarquable collection de stibine provenant d'une mine mayennaise : mine de la Lucette), un millier de vertébrés (naturalisés, séchés ou en bocaux), 30 000 planches d'herbiers... Ce muséum contient également une collection intéressante d'objets techniques du XIXe et début XXe siècle et une trentaine de vélocipèdes anciens.
